Toffee Brownie Mug Dessert

There are things in life I love that Matt does not; chick flicks, shopping, crafts, Snape, peppermint. The list could go on but I'm going to focus on brownies. I really like brownies! The sad part is I have a hard time getting them to turn out. They're always too greasy, or raw, or burnt, or anything else that can go wrong. Who messes up brownies?!?! This girl.

Obviously when I saw a recipe for a brownie in a mug I got super excited! It's just one serving so who cares if Matt hates it, and if I mess it up I'm not wasting a pan full of brownies! I know you're getting really excited here so I'll let you know: this blog has a happy ending, the brownie rocks.

This was a Pinterest find, and you can find the original recipe on JoyBx. The recipe is really easy and quick! Which can be dangerous for those of us who shouldn't be 2 minutes away from brownies and any given time.  Start off with a mug and add in 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, a pinch of salt, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa. Mix all these dry ingredients together.

See how easy? You're already half way done! Now add in 2 tablespoons of oil and 3 tablespoons of water, then mix again. You're going to want a runny consistency.

At this point I added on toppings. Anything can be added, I chose Heath baking bits and they tasted great!
Cook for 1 minute 40 seconds and remove from microwave. I let it sit for a bit before I added ice cream. It was still hot, but my ice cream didn't get too gross. I also added hot fudge, which did not hold it's ground on the ice cream for very long. Add any fun sundae toppings on top.

Warning: this recipe actually requires two mugs. One for the brownie and one full of milk because this is super rich! All brownie lovers rejoice! And enjoy your Toffee Brownie in a mug in less than 2 minutes!

  1. thanks tamara! you should! it was so freaking easy and super good! it just might happen again today! haha

  2. I can't believe you have more misses than hits with brownies. Brownies are my signature dish and have played an important part in me getting my current job, and helping me woo my current boy.

BUT I have been interested in trying this mug baking, and if you say it's good, then I'll trust it.

    1. it could be that i'm lazy and always make them from boxes. the only brownies i've made from scratch are blondie brownies and they always turn out. i have a fun recipe you make the batter on stovetop before baking it. it's pretty good. i like the mug thing. in fact thursday night i'm making an entire meal out of just mug desserts! that blog is going to be a blast!
